Travel Portal Report Reports on Massive Cancellation in Azerbaijan Türkiye

Mumbai: India’s travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan hits leading online travel platforms hard, and the report says support for these countries has been strong in the recent India-Pakistan conflict due to support for these countries for Pakistan.

MakemyTrip reported that bookings in both countries fell by 60%, up by 250% in the past week, while Cleartrip noted that even travel and travel operators issued travel consultations, cancelled 260%, but cancelled travel consultations, even canceled travel packages, and even suspended bookings in those countries.

“With the solidarity of our country and the deep respect for our armed forces, we strongly support this sentiment and recommend that you travel to Azerbaijan and Turkey for all non-essential trips to Azerbaijan and Turkey,” a MakemyTrip spokesman said. “We have stopped all promotions and offers on the platform to stop tourism in both destinations.”
Since Turkey and Azerbaijan and Pakistan’s Indian actions against India’s revenge on Pahargam terrorist attacks on May 8, social media platforms have been boycotting the calls for boycotts from these countries.

“To stand together during this time, we urge everyone to postpone all non-essential trips to Türkiye and Azerbaijan,” Cleartrip told ET in a statement.

Ixigo has suspended not only all bookings to Türkiye and Azerbaijan, but also China. “Respect the views of all Indians at present, we have suspended all flight and hotel bookings for Turkey, Azerbaijan and China. Our commitment is to act responsibly and align with the broad interests of the country. Blood and bookings will not flow together. 22% of Turkey canceled and 30% of Azerbaijan. “Now, travelers prefer safer alternatives like Georgia, Serbia, Greece, Thailand and Vietnam,” he said. “In the uncertainty of the fire after the fire, bookings for affected areas were booked, while travel to unaffected areas continued smoothly,” Pitty urged customers to rely on official sources, while official sources were also on.

The number of Indians visiting Türkiye and Azerbaijan has increased significantly recently due to improved connectivity. Indigo is one of the earliest Indian airlines to fly directly to Istanbul in 2019 and Baku in 2023, helping to increase export traffic to both destinations.

While there have been calls for direct flights from Indian Airlines to these countries through the Indian Airlines, a senior airline executive warned that such a move would benefit Middle East Airlines at the expense of Indian Airlines.

“They (Gulf Airlines) have dominated transit traffic between India and Europe. If India’s connectivity is weakened, these operators will get more leverage,” the executive warned. “For Indian travelers, this could mean longer travel times and higher fares. It’s a space we can’t afford.”
