NTPC buys coal from SECL

Hyderabad: In a major setback at Singaporeni Collies Company Limited (SCCL), NTPC will purchase 28 million tons of coal from Korba’s Southeast Coal Field (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. NTPC may be between 3,400 and 3 coal, except for the shipping charges from India coal, while SCCL charges 5,200.
According to senior official sources, the National Thermoelectric Corporation will use the 1,600 MW Ramagundam power plant, another 800×3 MW (2,400 MW) station for the II of the Telangana power plant, which is about to set off in Ramagundam, according to senior official sources.
In addition to the 1,600 MW plant, NTPC operates a 100 MW floating solar power plant. Plants at similar 56 MW plants and another 120 MW solar power plants will begin operations by August.
Sources said the Telangana government has entered into a power purchase agreement with NTPC to purchase 800 MW of power from Class II of the Telangana power plant in Ramagundam. Telangana will get 5.50-`6 power per unit.
Andhra Pradesh also reached an agreement to purchase 1,000 MW, Karnataka 600 MW and Punjab 400 MW. These power plants will be commissioned within the next four and a half years.
NTPC’s total thermal and renewable energy installation capacity in the southern states is 11,172 MW, accounting for approximately 13.97% of the group’s total power generation capacity.
NTPC has invested Rs 60,168 crore in southern states so far. The total installed capacity of NTPC is 79,930 MW, meeting 16% of the energy needs of the southern states.
The national average of NTPC factories is 77.42%, which is higher than the salary load factor of 69.59%. PLF is a measure of the effective efficiency of a power plant adopting its installation capability.
