According to sources, Kim is based on the 2000 Hindi action thriller Bichhoo, starring Bobby Deol, Rani Mukerji and Ashish Vidyarthi. Bichhoo itself is an informal remake of the 1994 English-speaking French action terrorist film Leon: The Pro, hosted by Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman.

Abhishek Bachchan will be seen as the king’s opponent, produced by Siddharth Anand’s Marflix Pictures and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. It has been reported that Abhay Verma, who has earned fame with the 2024 horror comedy Munjya, will also be seen in the action thriller. The actor’s official announcement has not been made yet.
