An Indian-Indian councillor is accused of participating in a mafia-run gambling operation, according to New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin.

Anand Shah, 42, is one of 39 people charged with “blackblacking, gambling, money laundering and other crimes,” Pratkin said Friday.

“Accuse of a current council member will only add fuel to the fire that elected officials do not trust.

According to Prakin’s office, Shah was “determined to manage illegal poker games and online sports books that are united with Luches’ criminal family.”
