Despite the huge loan, BRS still cannot improve arable land

Nalgonda: Deputy Chief Minister Malu Bhatti Vikramarka opened the Mahadevapuram Lift irrigation scheme on the Wyra River in Madira Mandal in Khammam district on Sunday. The project was completed at a cost of Rs 12 crore and aims to bring irrigation to 1,500 acres of farmland in the area.

After the inauguration, Barty spoke at a public meeting, criticizing the former BRS government for carrying out large-scale loans in the name of building irrigation projects without expanding the state’s arable area during its 10-year term. He said the current Congressional administration is prioritizing cost-effective projects that will irrigate larger spending, especially larger areas in the tail area.

The deputy CM also laid the foundation for a Rs 19 crore shipment dam under the Rayapatnam Lift irrigation program on the right bank of the river, which is designed to irrigate about 10,790 acres of land.

Barty stressed the government’s balanced focus on development and welfare, noting that all anti-cyclical promises, including the country’s financial restructuring, were honored. He cited flagship programs such as Indira Mahila Shakti, Indiramma Canteens and support programs for female entrepreneurs who set up petrol shops and rice plants for female entrepreneurs, saying they are crucial to women’s empowerment.

Bhatti said in rural uplift that the budget increased infrastructure, agricultural support and improved allocation of education and health services, all aimed at improving living standards and promoting socio-economic growth in the villages.
