Telangana Weather | May 7th Thunderstorm Alert; Orange Warnings in 17 Areas

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange and yellow alarm for thunderstorms on Wednesday (7 May 2025) to warn of lightning activity and gusts.

The orange alarm indicates that there are 17 areas with higher chances of bad weather. These include Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal. IMD urges residents and local authorities in these areas to remain vigilant.

A yellow alert was issued in 13 regions indicating the possibility of moderate thunderstorms in 13 regions. These are Adirabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Rangareddy, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri.

The maximum temperature is still relatively low, exceeding the 45°C recorded in the fourth week of April. Mendora in Nizamabad's maximum temperature was 42.8°C on Monday (May 5, 2025), followed by 42.6°C for Talamad and Ibrahimpatnam or Jagtial, and 42.5°C in Ieeeja in Jogulamba Gadwal. Temperatures in urban areas exceed 40°C: while 40.8°C was recorded in Hyderabad, 41.1°C in Medchal and 41.6°C in Rangareddy.
