Josh starred in Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai as twins. Director Mansoor Khan’s first choice for playing the leading lady is Kajol, but she refused. He also wanted his cousin Aamir Khan to play Ray’s love interest, eventually played by Chandrachud Singh in the 2000 film.
Filmmaker Mansoor Khan said he wanted his cousin Aamir Khan to play Chandrachur Singh’s role in the 2000 film Josh, but the actor believes he is considered part of the portrayal of Shah Rukh Khan. Aamir plays the leading role in most of Mansoor’s films, including his debut as leaders Qayamat SE Qayamat Tak, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and Akele Hum Akele Tum, and when the director gives him Josh, he automatically thinks he’s seen as a main character.
