Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of “standing and releasing the thugs in the name of secularism” on Tuesday (15 April 2025).
“Before 2017, Uttar Pradesh suffered frequent riots. But the law and order have now been fully restored because we know that thugs can only understand one language, and this is RashiHe said, adding that similar unrestricted violence is now taking place in West Bengal and the government has chosen to remain silent.
“Bengal is burning, and the Chief Minister calls rioters’ messengers of peace. But such people cannot be controlled with words. In the name of secularism, she has given them license to create chaos. Murshidabad has been burning for a week, yet the state government remains silent,” said Mr. Adityanath while addressing a gathering in Hardoi held to flag off 729 development projects worth over ₹650 crore.

UP CM thanks the judiciary for deploying the central force to protect the Hindu communities in Bangladesh. “We thank the Court of Honor for its intervention and ensuring the safety of innocent citizens,” he said.
UP CM questioned the silence of opposition parties such as Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP), accusing them of quietly supporting antisocial factors. “Parliament, Samawadi Party, keep silent. They do not condemn violence, but provide cover-up support. Someone glorifies what’s going on in Bangladesh should simply go there. Why is there a burden on the soil of India?”
Mr Adityanath thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for passing the WAQF Amendment. He said the law would stop illegal occupation of land and allow the government to use such land to build schools, hospitals, universities and houses.
