50501 Movement: Today we are in our anti-Trump protests: Where do people hold rallies, what is “Operation Day”?
The protests have organized a “beat” rally nearly two weeks after the U.S. policy condemning Trump. Today’s demonstrations will range from days of service and mutual aid activities to dispersed efforts to gatherings and protests. April’s “hands-on” rally attracted millions nationwide in Trump’s biggest protests in his second semester.

Who is organizing these gatherings?
The anti-Trump protests were loosely organized under the 50501 movement, which means “50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement”. The group said it has served as a medium for people to actively immigration policies towards Donald Trump, reducing the federal workforce, and his critics warned that the country is in a constitutional crisis.
His popularity has fluctuated since Donald Trump took office. Critics have raised alarms about some of his administrative actions and cuts to the federal government, and he has also been subject to negative polls for his handling of the economy.
Groots Group 50501 has previously protested against thousands of people against Trump’s policies on April 5. The same group today protested against the Trump administration today. According to Newsweek, other protest groups are planning to take action. The group said the April 19 demonstrations would be a protest against the “hostile government takeover” overseen by the Trump administration. It said it was an executive action against Trump, the Elon Musk administration’s Department of Efficiency (DOGE) and the massive federal layoffs responsible for the crackdown. It said that number would equal “continuous resistance to make a difference.”

The 50501 Movement was posted on its Instagram account on April 15: “There are estimated 5.2 million people who have appeared, appeared, joined us to announce that we reject the Trump/Musk administration’s war on our freedoms. The 50501 Movement has been declared Saturday, April 19, Saturday, April 19, and nationwide action days will be protested nationwide! events.pol-rev.com is used for events near you!”
What are the protesters talking about?
50501’s spokesman Hunter Dunn described the organization as “pro-democratic, pro-national, trans-overextension, non-violent grassroots movement.”
“We are working to protect our democracy from the rise of authoritarianism in the Trump administration,” Dunn told the Post.
Dunn pointed out that the protests are not necessarily partisan. “We have registered Democrats, registered independents and registered Republicans are all marching because they all believe in the United States because they all believe in a fair government that makes people more profits.”
According to the 50501’s activity database, certain locations will focus on specific issues, including climate change, LGBTQ+ rights, anti-fascism, and opposition to federal funding.

From his first term, Trump’s policies have sparked strong backlash, from women’s march to widespread protests against what he called a “Muslim ban,” which restricted travel in seven Muslim-majority countries.
Trump’s second term is characterized by confidence and far-reaching actions to execute power, often indicating a disregard for traditional separation of power. His government policies go beyond the goal of targeting marginalized groups such as trans athletes and asylum seekers as he tries to reshape the country according to his vision.
Thousands of federal employees were rejected by the U.S. Department of Efficiency (DOGE) within the first three months of their second term and are now led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. Immigration authorities have detained and attempted to deport legal permanent residents. Meanwhile, private universities have frozen funds due to their refusal to comply with new government oversight tasks. Trump also enacted most of the economy that affected the global economy, including U.S. allies, to create market volatility and raise American fears of an imminent recession, and to issue tariffs on the status quo.
Where do people hold rallies?
The event is scheduled to be held on April 19 across the country. Downtown and Plaza are expected to be gatherings in major cities – for example, protests in Chicago are scheduled for midday at Daley Plaza in downtown, while Houston’s 50501 League held a three-pm campaign in Houston at Town Hall. In other cities, demonstrators gathered in shopping malls, local libraries and state capitols.

What happened in Washington?
According to the database of planned activities, some protests are scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C. this Saturday. Demonstrators are expected to gather outside Vice President JD Vance’s residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory near Lafayette Square, as well as the Washington Monument.
One of the main events was a parade starting at Northwest 15th Street, heading to the White House from near the Washington Monument. The marchers demanded a return to Kilmar Abrego García, a U.S. government acknowledged that a person was wrongly deported to a prison in El Salvador.
Other groups will be called near Lafayette Square to oppose what they call the “billionaire agenda” and express support for immigration reform, health care visits and LGBTQ+ rights.
Unlike the huge protests of the April 5 protests that brought thousands of anti-Trump protesters to the National Mall, where the National Park Service reported no plans to hold a large-scale rally this weekend.

Ben Zinevich, organizer of the Alliance for Answers, stressed the importance of unity in different reasons. “No one parade wins or ends injustice,” he said. “It’s really about building a sustained movement that can be manifested as political power.”
Additionally, the 50501 DC organization team plans to host a joint aid campaign in Franklin Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to support workers laid off from the federal workforce under the Trump administration.

According to the 50501 website, more than 400 protests are planned across the country, from big cities to small towns. Some of these protests were rallying, others celebrated the 250th anniversary of the American War of Independence in 1775. Some protests also supported science and presided over the food drive.

What happens on Action Day?
Not every party attending the April 19 action is a protest. 50501 spokesman Dunn said at several locations, organizers are hosting food drives, mutual aid events and light meals. In downtown Los Angeles, participants gather to help people affected by recent wildfires.
Dunn said some other groups will use the April 19 “Operation Day” to call for training on security and protests. On National Day, the goal is community impact, Dunn said. “We are looking for ways to strengthen community connections, ways to help neighbors, ways to build community support in the face of tough times ahead.”
