Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Nitish Kumar praised 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi as the youngest centurion ever in the T20 cricket match on Tuesday (29 April 2025) and announced that he received a cash prize of Rs 1 million for his outstanding performance.

Suryavanshi lighted up the IPL with his 38-ball 101 on Monday night, and embellished 11 sixes and 7 quarters. The young Rajasthan Royal batsman’s 94 runs on the boundaries in a match against the Gujarat Giants.

“Congratulations and blessings to Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Bihar, who became the youngest player in IPL history, scoring a century. With his hard work and talent, he became a new hope for Indian cricket. Everyone is proud of him.

“I have the opportunity to meet Vaibhav and his father in 2024…I congratulate him after his outstanding performance in the IPL. He will also receive a cash reward from the state government, which will also be awarded a cash reward of Rs 1 million by the state government. I hope he will create new records for the Indian team in the future and bring glory to the country,”

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also congratulated Vaibhav in another post on X.

He said: “Every Biharian is proud of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The NDA government stands with the athletes at every step. Because of his outstanding performance, CM Nitish Kumar Ji announced a cash reward of Rs 1 million.”
