Doctor, hospital staff fired for towing and beating a 77-year-old man in Madhya Pradesh government hospital

Madhya Pradesh Public Health and Medical Education Department opened a doctor at the Chatalpur Regional Hospital after the incident spread on Sunday (20 April 2025) after beating a 77-year-old man and dragging him to the hospital floor.

Earlier in the day, doctors, Dr. Rajesh Mishra and Raghavendra Khare were registered, another member of the hospital staff, including various charges, including voluntary injustice and criminal intimidation. Dr. Mishra has served as an orthopedic specialist in government hospitals through the National Health Mission (NHM).

The regional department of the Indian Red Cross Society also terminated Mr. Karl’s service, allegedly a staff member, another man allegedly seen by Dr. Mishra in the video, suggesting that two men dragged an elderly man out of the wings of the hospital and photographed him.

The FIR for both was filed in Sections 115(2), 296, 351(3) and 3(5) at the Kotwali Police Station.

The principal was also suspended

Saloni Sidana, director of Madhya Pradesh of NHM, issued an order to terminate Dr. Mishra’s service. According to the order, the incident occurred on April 17, when Uddhav Lal Joshi, 77, a resident of the town of Nog, had gone to the hospital for treatment by his 70-year-old wife.

The department also suspended civil surgeon and chief hospital principal Gl Ahirwar because he did not control his subordinates’ actions and transferred it to the office of the chief medical and health officer in the Balaghat area.

Dr. Ahirwar had earlier defended Dr. Mishra before the media and blamed the incident on overcrowding, while Mr. Joshi “cut off the line”.

After the three members’ committee investigated the incident and submitted a report, a lawsuit against Dr. Mishra and Mr. Khare was taken against Mr. Mishra and Mr. Khare. Dr. Ahirwar is also part of the group.

Oppose the narrative

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Josh said his wife was coming to the hospital due to nerve pain. “The doctor asked me to get into the queue when I was already in. Then he photographed me.”

However, Dr. Mishra claimed the old man broke the queue and pushed a woman waiting for her. “He also performed poorly with other patients and a waiter who asked him to stay in the cohort. When I got up and went to the bathroom, he held my hand and asked me not to leave. He started to be immoral with me and suddenly hit me.”

“BJP’s Insensitive System”

The incident also sparked strong opposition to the BJP government, with the opposition Congress aiming to be “insensitive and silent.”

“Inhumanity in a 75-year-old man at Chatarpur Hospital is more than an incident – ​​it has become a sign of the “insensitive system” of the BJP government. The poor, the elderly and the patients have suffered, but the government has been silent,” opposition Umang Singhar said, sharing the video on x.

“Will the BJP include it in the developed India category?” he asked.
