Chennai Government Museum will be completed in April 2026 in 175, and the Tamil Nadu government has announced various improvement measures.
The sum of Rs 4 crore will be allocated to renovate the geology, botany, zoology and anthropology gallery of Egmore Museum in Chennai. Arts and Culture Minister Saminathan announced at the conference on Thursday that a campus of Rs 1 crore will be allocated to renovate the campus’ infrastructure.
The infrastructure to organize light and sound programs will be established on campus for Rs 3 million. He said the chemical protection section will be developed for Rs 5 million. The goalkeeper will operate on the museum campus to allow seniors and children to access various parts.
Madurai and the then government museum will be developed for Rs 2 crore. Mr Saminathan said the new museum will be established in the Tiruppur and Thoothukudi areas. The Connemara Cottage in Udhagamandalam, located in the Government Museum, will be repaired for Rs 5 million.
