CISSA ICAR-CTCRI joins forces to strengthen 36 farmers’ producer companies

The ICAR Centre Tuber Crop Research Institute (ICAR-CTCRI) will help strengthen the 36 Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) in the four southern regions of Kerala, an initiative that emphasizes tuber crops in particular.

CTCRI Director G. Byju said CTCRI will help FPC provide FPC with the skills in value chain development, processing, packaging, branding and marketing in the context of tuber crops.

The Center for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA) and CISSA and CTCRI changed the 36 FPCs in the Memorandum of Understanding here Thursday.

Dr. Byju said CTCRI will provide technical support, business mentoring and entrepreneur training to FPC to enhance its capabilities as a successful agriculture-based enterprise.

FPC comes from the southern regions of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha.

Former Union Minister V. Muraleedharan said on CTCRI’s Memorandum of Understanding Exchange Function that teaching, research and expanding the functional links between organizations are essential to transforming FPC into a sustainable commercial organization.

Sometimes Mr. Muraleedharan launched the “Ananthapuri 5000”, which plans to develop 5,000 “Influential Enterprises” programs by September 2025. The initiative aims to empower farmers, empower farmers with technology, knowledge and entrepreneurial identities, laying the foundation for affluent and prosperous rural communities.
