Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna, formed a three-member committee on Saturday (22 March 2025) to investigate the trial of Yashwant Varma in the Delhi High Court.

The committee consists of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Chief Justice of Himaal Pang High Court, Justice of GS Sandhawalia, and the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, Justice of Justice of Anu Sivaraman.

On Friday (March 21, 2025), the Supreme Court committee began a preliminary investigation into Justice Varma, allegedly found large amounts of cash in the fire. It also reportedly called for his transfer to the Allahabad High Court.

The Allahabad High Court Association opposes the so-called return of Justice Yashwant Varma from the Delhi High Court to the Allahabad High Court, after alleging that cash was found in a fire accident.

“This ruling by the Supreme Court Academy raises a serious question, is the Allahabad High Court a trash? It becomes important when we look at the current situation, and there is no judge in the current situation in the Allahabad High Court,” the letter issued by Anil Tiwari, president of the Bar Association, while adding that the new judge has not been appointed “many years.” It added: “We are not ready to accept corruption.”
