CM and DCM seek to alleviate fear of investigation

Regarding the findings of the socio-economic and educational investigation recommendations proposed by the Backward Class Committee of Karnataka, doubts about several castes/subs, the recommendations made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday will not allow any caste or any caste.

“The poor in all castes except Muslims and backward classes should be educated and they should empower them socially and economically. The goal of the government is to prevent injustice in every caste census. Should the poor remain poor after 75 years of independence?” the chief minister told Bellagarve’s journalists.

He also said that the weaker parts of each caste should have access to education.

Asked about the opposition to the caste census by Congress legislators, he said: “No minister objected to these suggestions. No one spoke out loud. After reading the investigation, everyone was asked to give an opinion. Once the minister announced their opinion, the cabinet would discuss and decide the issue.”

The Chief Minister also denied that he had with the original copy of his investigation report, which was a charge raised by opposition leaders in General Assembly R. Ashok. “Has he (Mr. Ashok) ever told the truth? How did the original copy be with me? We have not written to (Lok Sabha’s opposition) Rahul Gandhi (in the investigation). However, we have discussed the investigation with him and later placed it before the cabinet.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister told the reporters of the Dharma that the decision to investigate would not be made in a hurry, while Congress is committed to making all castes equal.

“We intend to provide justice for all. The difference between Walker Kaliga, lingayats and Jains is poor. We have started to discuss this issue and some are providing solutions. We have also started reading, and it takes time. Decisions are not made in a hurry.”
