BSH reports significant growth in the Indian market, increasing localization to 75 PCs by the end of 2025
New Delhi (PTI) on April 10 (PTI) Germany’s national appliance Major BSH reported “significant growth” in the Indian market in 2024, with the company planning to increase its localization to 75% by the end of 2025, global management said on Thursday.
The company said at its annual global press conference that BSH Home Appliances, a local subsidiary in India, witnessed a consistent positive sales momentum due to consumer desires to increase their desire for advanced built-in devices and higher capacity solutions in 2024.
They added that the dishwasher segment also contributed significantly to the overall growth story of BSH India.
BSH operates in India’s three brands (Bosch, Siemens and Gaggenau) and has a manufacturing unit near Chennai for washing machines, frost-free refrigerators and stoves.
Munich-based BSH reported “steady growth” with sales increasing to €15.3 billion in 2024.
It said BSH’s turnover grew nearly 14% in emerging market areas including Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Its global top management said: “BSH has produced significant growth in Türkiye, the Middle East, Africa and India.”
BSH said Siemens Cooking had sales of up to 22% in its Indian business in 2024, with built-in ovens accounting for more than 50% of the category.
“The dishwasher segment also contributed significantly to the overall growth story of BSH India. The value of the category grew by 13%,” BSH said.
This growth exceeds the number, indicating a shift in consumer behavior as Indian households increasingly prioritize hygiene, convenience and water conservation.
On the localization side, the German appliance manufacturer said: “BSH’s “Made in India strategy” remains the cornerstone of growth with the goal of increasing localization by 70-75% by 2025.”
The company currently has a localization level of 60%.
BSH said its strategic investment in its Chennai factory, expanding its brand store operations in emerging cities, and its retail excellence program further enhances consumer experience and deepens market penetration in India.
BSH Household Appliances India is a subsidiary of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH and makes a living with refrigerators, dishwashers, washers and dryers, cooking ovens and chefs’ tops and Hobbs.
BSH Home Appliances India launched a manufacturing journey in Sriperumbudur near Chennai in 2018. It is manufacturing Bosch and Siemens washing machines and refrigerators at its facilities.
