Karnataka’s 4% Muslim Quota Act inspired heated Rajya Sabha debate on constitution

Shortly after the House of Lords met that day, Minority Minister Kiren Rijiju claimed that Congress leaders held constitutional status and he said his party could change the constitution to preserve Muslims. While Rijiju did not name the person, House head JP Nadda said Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar issued a statement that we will change the constitution to preserve Muslims if needed.
“I have to say very sadly that the Congress, which claims to protect the Constitution, is violating. Baba Saheb Ambedkar, who drafted the Constitution, said that reservations will not be based on religion. But in Karnataka, the Congress government has passed a bill requiring 4% reservations to Muslims in public contracts.
However, opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge, also from Karnataka, refuted the charges. He said: “I can only say that no one can change or terminate the constitution enacted by Ambedkar. We went from Kanyakumari to protect the constitution by Bharat Jodo Yatra to Kashmir…We are the ones representing the protection of the constitution.”
The house was taken to 2 p.m. when members of Congress and BJP shouted slogans to each other.
When the House of Representatives rally again, Congressman Randeep Surjewala claimed that the leader of the House lied and misled Rajya Sabha. The MPs quickly stood up and shouted slogans. Karg insists that Karnataka Deputy CM has not talked about changing the constitution, and that BJP and RSS often hold this position. “The voice of changing the constitution comes from that side… Put your hand on your heart and tell us that Bhagwat (RSS chief) Bhagwat didn’t say it’s BJP MPSSS? RSS and BJP leaders said, the party said that if the party gets a 2/3 majority, then we will continue to say, we will continue to say, we will continue to say, this will continue to say, the claim is totally wrong and untrue.” Ambedkar and Sardar Patel once said that based on religion, it will not be retained. They are taking away the reserved share of SC, STS and OBC, and keeping it to Muslims. ”
