All schools in Kashmir will be closed on Monday amid heavy rain

Srinagar: In view of heavy rain, the Jamu and Kashmir governments directed the closure of all schools in the valley on Sunday, an official said. “In view of the ongoing severe weather conditions and forecasts, it has been decided to stay for one day in all schools on April 21,” said Education Minister Sakina Ittoo in a post on X.

The decision has been considered a preventive step, she said.

“This decision has been viewed as a preventive step to ensure the safety and well-being of all students,” she added.
Kashmir Valley has been slammed by heavy rains over the past 48 hours, even as the weather forecasts more precipitation over the next 24 hours.
