E-Pass mandatory for visitors entering through Nilgiris’ five Checkposts

The Nielgiris District Government has clarified that access to other areas of the region through Kallar, Kunjapannai, Mel Gudalur, Masinagudi and Geddai Checkposts, E-Pass is a must.

The regional government said the clarification came from the Madras High Court, which will operate from Tuesday.

While clarification may sound like a relaxation of existing rules, visitors who wish to visit the main towns of Udhagamandalam, Coonoor and Kotagiri must still source E-Pass as they have to pass at least one of the at least five mentioned Checkposts.
