On Friday (4 April 2025), officials from the Law Enforcement Bureau Koji Bureau (ED) asked Gokulam Gopalan, a well-known Kerala businessman and film producer, in his company office in Kozhikode City. Sources said he appeared on the team around 11.30 a.m. as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected foreign exchange violations.
Prior to the interrogation, the Ed Squad conducted extensive searches at his home in Vadakara and other regional offices in Kozhikode. The inspection also covers financial institutions and business offices under the Gokulam Group.

Ongoing inspections have nothing to do with recent controversy related to the recently released Malayalam films L2: empuraan. They said there have been similar inspections in the past for complaints related to suspected foreign exchange violations.
According to sources, the reasons behind the latest inspections are reportedly related to suspicious transactions of Gokulam Group’s huge funds. The source of revenue and transaction purposes will be verified as part of the latest inspection, they said.
A separate team also searched other financial institutions owned by the Gokulam Group in Tamil Nadu. Some documents related to financial transactions were recovered for further inspection.
