Officials said a fire burned more than 30 sheds in a slum area near the village of Wazlabad on the afternoon of Saturday (May 17, 2025).
A fire broke out quickly after a mini cooking cylinder exploded in a slum near Wazirabad in District 52, and it took about two hours to control the flames, a fire official said.
According to witnesses, the fire spread so quickly that people didn’t even have the chance to take their property from the shanty town.
The official said initial investigations showed that short circuits in the slums may have triggered fires.
“About two hours later, eight fire bids were driven to the site. The exact cause of the fire has not been determined. The fire destroyed more than 30 shanty towns,” said Naresh Kumar, a fire officer from the District 29 Fire Department. Cor
