The stretch between the two sites spans about 4.5 kilometers. Once run, this link will provide Meerut with a smooth, air-conditioned train service.

Meerut RRTS News in Delhi: NCRTC has begun Namo Bharat train trials between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan Stations. The National Capital Regional Transportation Company (NCRTC) said in a statement that the first trial was conducted on Saturday night, with the Namo Bharat train moving from the new Ashok Nagar to the offline line with minimal speed. High-speed testing will be conducted in the coming days as part of a wider testing process. It said the stretch between the new Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan spans about 4.5 km. During the run, the train crossed the Shanna River for the first time, crossed the overpass and Ring Road in Barapullah, and finally entered the Salalay Kale Station in NCRTC. Once run, this link will allow for smooth, air-conditioned train service between the two sites. As the trial progresses, detailed evaluations will be conducted to evaluate the coordination of the train with critical subsystems, including tracks, platform screen doors (PSDs) and overhead power supplies.

NCRTC said Sarai Kale Khan will serve as the starting point for the corridor and is steadily moving towards operational preparations. Work on the roof and facade of the station is developing rapidly, while the 12 escalators and 4 lifts connecting the Consourse to the platform are already installed and ready for use. It said NCRTC is working to ensure seamless integration with nearby transport centers to improve passenger access and convenience. This includes connectivity with the Delhi Metro, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Veer Haqiqat Rai Interstate Bus Station (ISBT) and Ring Road Bus Stand.

Currently, Namo Bharat’s train runs along a 55km between the new Ashok Nagar and Meerut South in Delhi, covering 11 stations. The NCRTC team is working to achieve the goal of operating the entire 82-km Delhi-Milt corridor this year. Once completed, it is expected that the travel time between Sarai Kale Khan and Modipuram in Meerut will be reduced to less than one hour.
