Former Karnataka DGP murdered by wife after chili powder attack: police

Sources said police probed the murder of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash and learned that his wife Pallavi threw chili powder into his face and stabbed him to death. Police detained Pallavi as the main suspect in the murder.
Along with her, their daughter Kriti was also detained. Prakash, an IPS official from Bihar in 1981, was found dead on Sunday in the ground floor of a three-story house he had in the city’s luxurious HSR layout.
“After a fierce word exchange, Pallavi threw chili powder on Prakash’s face.” Sources said that when Karnataka’s huge former police chief scrambled to get rid of the burning feeling, Pallavi stabbed him several times with a knife and killed him on the spot.
Sources said she then called a video call to a friend, which reportedly said: “I killed the monster,” the source said. Sources say the murder was the climax of frequent running between the couple. It is understood that crimes related to a piece of land in Dandeli, Karnataka involve property disputes.
Pallavi approached the HSR layout police station to file a complaint with the complaint a few months ago. Sources said she held a “dharna” (sitting demonstration) in front of the police station when the staff there was no obligation. It was also learned that Palawi was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was also treated with medication.
The 68-year-old retired IPS official is a native of Champaran, Bihar and holds a master’s degree in geology. Prakash was appointed Director General of Police on March 1, 2015.
