Kerala woman arrested for smuggling MDMA from Bangalore

A 34-year-old woman was arrested here for allegedly trafficking in the synthetic drug MDMA in Bangalore, police officials said on Saturday. Anila Raveendran (Anchalummoodu) natives were detained by Sakthikulangara police and Kollam City Police District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (Dansaf) on Friday night.

According to police, she was traveling by car from Bangalore when police tried to stop vehicles near Neendakara Bridge. However, the driver tried to escape them, resulting in a chase. Police sources added that the car was eventually stopped and caught 90 grams of MDMA.

First, 50 grams of MDMA was found in the car. The woman then underwent medical examination and found about 40 grams of MDMA hidden in her private parts, police said. However, police sources said that although the exact amount of MDMA seized from her has not been determined, it is estimated to be about 90 grams in total.

Police sources said the woman had been smuggling MDMA to provide it to schools and college students in Kollam City. He also caught the car driven by the defendant. Police officials added that Anila Raveendran had previously been involved in MDMA drug smuggling cases.

Police said a detailed investigation into the source of contraband is underway.
