Recognized for her outstanding performance in tuberculosis (TB) testing, Telangana won the Best National Performance Award for the NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) test in the 100-day “TB Mukt Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” campaign. The award was presented by United Health Minister JP NADDA to RV Karnan, Managing Director of National Health Mission Telangana and A. Rajesham of Telangana Co-Director (TB) held in New Delhi on Monday.

Dr Rajsham said the award was intended to acknowledge more than 100% screening of vulnerable populations in all nine regions in Telangana affected by TB. More than 4,600 new cases of tuberculosis were identified in the 100-day event. “To support patients receiving treatment, a budget of Rs 36 crore has been allocated from various corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds for six months of nutrition assistance in the campaign district. Telangana Ministry of Health cooperated with the Union Ministry of Health to launch the “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” in nine regions. The state government has deployed 26 mobile tuberculosis testing units equipped with digital X-ray machines and NAAT equipment.

Minister of Health C. Damodar Raja Narasimha congratulated the health department on its achievements. “The award proves our commitment to eliminating TB and brings us closer to our TB-free India goal by 2025. It highlights Telangana’s leadership and determination in the national struggle against TB,” he said.
