In a grim incident, a man in Gwalior “eloped” due to reports of his daughter and his subsequent marriage to his neighbor deeply caused a tragic life. The man took this extreme step by owning a medical store in the “Bhairon Baba Ka Mandir” area by firing shots in the bedroom in the city’s Jhansi Road police station area late Wednesday night.
According to police, the man’s family revealed that he felt humiliated and defeated by his daughter’s actions. Police Chief Hina Khan told IANS: “The family listed the elopement of their daughter, and the subsequent marriage was the main reason for this tragic decision. The police have recovered their daughter, but she is an adult and she knows a man and is willing to marry him.”
The businessman left a suicide note. In the notes, he expressed pain for his daughter’s decision to marry the man she was. He admitted that in pain, he considered hurting his daughter and husband, but eventually wrote: “How should I kill my own daughter?” According to police, he also criticized the Indian Constitution, claiming that once a daughter becomes an adult, the father will be deprived of his rights.
He further accuses lawyers of prioritizing money over family welfare. He wrote in his notes that his entire family was destroyed. Police further said an investigation was underway. The tragic sequence of events began two weeks ago when the man’s daughter was away from a young man from a nearby area.
The police later found her in Indore, but by then she had already married the man. At a court hearing three days before the incident, the daughter issued a statement in favor of her husband and chose to be with him. The decision reportedly destroyed her father. On the night of the incident, the man had dinner with his family and then retreated to his room.
At around 1 a.m., the sound of gunfire shocked the family.
The family rushed to his room and found his lifeless body lying in blood. They immediately notified the police and they arrived at the scene and began an investigation.
Forensic experts also checked the site Thursday morning.
