His aim is to win the 2027 World Cup and then retire: Rohit Sharma's childhood coach

New Delhi: Rohit Sharma quietly drew curtains during his exam career, but his story in Indian cricket is far from over. In the final chapter of his glittering career, the batting firm stamina is now fully focused on the 50-span format and bringing glory to the country in the 2027 ODI World Cup, his kids cup dinesh dinesh Lad said.
Rohit recently added the championship trophy to his cabinet, winning his captain with the T20 World Cup champion India champion as the veteran stood out as one of the most successful captains in the country.
Lad felt that Rohit was willing to surrender by winning the ODI World Cup, an escape from India since 2011 when the trophy led by MS Dhoni canceled.
“His goal (Rohit) is to win the 2027 ODI World Cup and then retire,” LAD told PTI video on Wednesday.
“His goal is to win the World Test Championship, but unfortunately we are not eligible. Now, this is the 2027 World Cup … I also hope he wins the 2027 World Cup and then retires.”
The 2027 Cricket World Cup is scheduled to play in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in October and November.
Rohit's glittering ODI career has scored more than 11,168 times, including the highest score of the 32nd century and 264 points, making him one of the most dangerous 50 hitters in international cricket.
Rad said the legend’s test retirement was a strategic change in prolonging his career.
“He didn't rush to accept (deciding to retire from the test). He didn't want to play T20IS after the World Cup (last year in America last year), but he decided to play the other two formats. He must have a good idea of the people who suit him best.”
Asked if Rohit was unconfident in leading the team that started in June’s five-game series, he added: “This decision has nothing to do with the upcoming Tour of England.”
“Like after the T20 World Cup last year, the main idea is to give the next generation a chance,” Rad said.
Rad also shared that Rohit's test debut on the West Indies was his most memorable moment.
Rohit won 177 matches against the West Indies in Kolkata in 2013.
“This is his debut test for the West Indies…that was the moment he knew he had arrived. It was my favorite test knock.”
With Rohit's international career coming to an end, discussions about future leadership have begun. Lad supports the likes of Shubman Gill and Kl Rahul to take over the baton.
He added: “I can't say it was a decision by BCCI. But there are many people ready to be captains.
