Hyderabad-based FDDI has established a strategic partnership with NIDAP to promote academic excellence

Hyderabad: The Institute of Footwear Design and Development (FDDI) in Hyderabad has established a strategic partnership with the National Institute of Design (NID AP) through a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote academic excellence, industry-consistent research, and cross-system approval.
The Landmark Agreement establishes a framework for comprehensive collaboration between the two institutions, leveraging their strengths in design education and innovation, focusing on joint research programs in emerging design disciplines through teacher-student exchange programs.
It will also focus on shared infrastructure utilization, including labs and professional facilities, as well as industry-aligned projects to enhance employability and entrepreneurship. The partnership includes several design disciplines including industrial and communications design, textile and clothing design, footwear design and production technology, and more.
“This collaboration has taken an important step in creating an ecosystem where design innovations meet the requirements of the industry. By combining our academic rigor with the expertise of FDDI Hyderabad, our goal is to set new benchmarks for design education,” said Dr. Bhaumik Nagar, Director of NID AP.
Dr. Narsimhugari Tej Lohit, retired IAS official and executive director, stressed: “Our partnership with NID AP will foster interdisciplinary learning and create opportunities for students to interact with sharp design concepts and industry practices. This is in line with our mission to develop competent design professionals around the world.”
The Memorandum of Understanding will remain in effect for the first three years and provide extended provisions. Implementation will be supervised by designated nasal officers of both agencies and biennial comments will be conducted to assess progress.
