India suddenly recalls IMF executive director KV Subramanian 6 months in advance

Sources said on Saturday (May 3, 2025) that the government had terminated KV Subramanian's service as executive director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) six months ahead of his three-year term.

The Cabinet Appointment Committee has terminated the MR. They added that Subramanian's services will be effective on April 30, 2025.

The reason for Mr. Subramanian's export has not been officially announced.

Sources said the government will soon find his replacement nominated to the IMF board.

According to sources, Mr. Subramanian has learned to question the IMF dataset, which is not the case in the corridors of multilateral institutions.

In addition, concerns were raised about the “alleged misconduct” related to the publicity and publicity of his latest book, India @ 100 .

Mr. Subramanian, who has been effective for three years from 1 November 2022, was appointed Executive Director of the IMF (India). Prior to this, he served as the government's chief economic adviser.

The IMF Executive Committee consists of 25 directors (executive directors or EDs) selected by member states or groups of states.

India is a constituency of four countries, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan as members.
