Karnataka government brings 40 stranded tourists back to special flight

The Karnataka government has taken steps to ensure that more than 40 people from Karnataka were in trouble from Karnataka after the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir on Tuesday. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that a special flight was being arranged to bring tourists back.
Three people from Karnataka were killed in the attack. The deceased have been identified as Manjunath Rao, Bharath Bhushan of Shivamogga and Madhusudan Rao of Bangalore.
The Chief Minister’s Office said the Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow, personally contacted the family of the lost relatives by phone, expressed condolences and assured them of the full support of the government.
According to the official press release, Mr. Sidalamaya spoke to Pallavi, wife of Manjunath Rao, and Sujatha, wife of Bharath Bhushan, to express his sympathy. Bharath Bhushan was fatally shot in front of his wife and three-year-old son, while professional real estate agent Manjunath Rao was killed as his wife and children witnessed the horrible incident.
The Chief Minister posted the Chief Minister on social media platform X: “The state is committed to bringing every Kannadiga back to Kashmir from Kashmir. No panic is required. I directed officials to arrange special flights and coordinate evacuation efforts. We are taking quick action to ensure the safety and well-being of our people.”
Labor Minister Santosh Lad was sent to Srinagar on Tuesday night as part of his rescue and support efforts. Leading a team of state officials, Mr. LAD has been monitoring the action to assist stranded tourists and coordinate with local authorities. He also visited the Muskarn Hotel in Srinagar, where many Karnataka tourists are currently staying to provide guarantees and check their benefits, according to a press release from the CMO.

Mr Siddaramaiah also announced on Wednesday night that Rs 1 million were paid to the family of each victim who died in the attack.

Meanwhile, Tejasvi Surya, a member of the Southern Bengaluru MP who accompanied the families of the deceased back on the journey, said that comprehensive support and coordination had been arranged for their trip. According to his statement, the group, as well as the victim’s mortal remains, are traveling from Srinagar to Indigo, Flight 3203, and is scheduled to land at Delhi Airport Terminal 1 at 7:10 pm. They will continue to fly to Indigo 3101 to Bengaluru, departing at 1.10 am on April 24 to reach 3.45 am
Mr Surya is traveling with 13 family members of the deceased to help and ensure all formalities are completed smoothly.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also contacted the grieving family. Mr Shivakumar spoke with the late Manjunath Rao’s brother-in-law Dr Ravikiran to express his sympathy and provided unconditional support from the government. “We are with you in this difficult time. Please stay strong. The country will provide all the necessary assistance.” In addition, Deputy CM directed Shivamogga district officials and the head of the district to visit the families of the deceased in person and expanded all forms of assistance.
