MP takes Ujjain as the global Prime Meridian: Mohan Yadav

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government is working to replace Greenwich, UK with MP’s Ujjain as a global Prime Meridian (GPM).
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav shared the information here on Monday with his ministerial colleagues.
“Ujain was once recognized as a GPM. We want to replace Greenwich as GPM. We are working in this direction,” said Kailash Vijayvargiya, the state’s urban development minister.
Mr Vijayvargiya said the Chief Minister was eager to scientifically determine that Uja and not Greenwich were GPM.
The main meridian is a line of longitude used as a global reference to time.
According to the belief of ancient Hindu astronomers, Ujjain is the exact point where the zero meridian intersects with the cancer tropics.
When the Chief Minister first proposed the idea of pushing Ujjain to “correct the world era” for GPM, he recently said that it was Ujjain’s era known as the world era.
But Paris later reviewed the World Age and was later adopted by the British as Greenwich as the main meridian.
Mr Vijayvargiya said it had been decided at the cabinet meeting that the subsequent Gudi Padwa festival will decline on March 30 and will celebrate the Hindu New Year in Madhya Pradesh.
Gudi Padwa is a Chinese New Year that marks the beginning of the Lunisolar New Year, celebrated by Hindus in certain parts of the country.
Calendar Vikram Samvat is a historic Indian calendar based on the moon’s month and the sun’s stellar year, believed to have begun in 57 BC and will be promoted in the state as Gudi Padwa celebrates.
The Cabinet also decided to review investment proposals received at the recently held Global Investor Summit and then at the Chief Secretary level, Chief Secretary level and finally Chief Minister level to ensure that the project takes wings.
