kuno cheetah population has grown to 29

Bhopal: On Sunday, South African female cheetah Nirva gave birth to five cubs and brought the big cat population to Kuno National Park in the Madhya Pradesh Sheopur district to 29.

This is Nirva’s second trash.

The cheetah’s mother is believed to have killed two of her bears, born a few months ago in her first trash in Kuno National Park.

Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav posted the birth of five cubs on Sunday’s X.

“Please join me in welcoming five valuable new life in Kuno National Park.

On a circle of their mother Nirva, a 5-year-old brought from the Mapesu Reserve in South Africa, these bears remind us of the beauty and resilience of nature. May they develop strong, swiftly and freely in India’s heritage.

Let us celebrate the hope and future they bring. ” he said in the post.

With the birth of five cubs, the population of cheetahs in Kuno National Park has now increased to 29.

Two male cheetahs, Pavak and Prapas were recently transferred to the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh Mandsaur District, from Kuno National Park.

In February 2023, NIRVA was taken to Kuno National Park along with 11 other cheetahs from South Africa.

In September 2022, under the Cheetah Introduction Project in India, eight Cheetahs were brought to the Kuno National Park in Namibia for the first intercontinental translocation in Namibia.
