Lapataa actress Chhaya Kadam accused of eating wildlife meat, Forest Ministry takes action

A team has been formed to find poachers, anyone who might help Chhaya Kadam get wildlife meat.
The City-based NGO Factory and Animal Welfare Association (PAWS) has written to the Chief Forest Officer of Thana and the Division Forest Officer. In the letter, they raised concerns about actress Chhaya Kadam’s recent statement, claiming she had eaten meat from protected wildlife.
In response, the Ministry of Forests is ready to investigate the issue. A team has been formed to find poachers and anyone who might help the actress pick up the meat. “We got in touch with Kadam by phone and she told us she was not going to travel professionally in the city and would only be able to return after four days. She has told her that she seeks legal advice and shows up in front of us.”
Meanwhile, another official mentioned: “Based on video interviews Kadam conducted with the broadcast channel, we will track poachers in the so-called activity and ensure strict action is taken against the culprit.”
Kadam reportedly performed in the movie Lapataa Ladies, and he said in a video interview shared by the radio channel that she ate meat with protected wildlife. In the YouTube video, she mentioned eating animals such as rat deer, rabbits, wild boars, monitoring lizards and porcupines.
“Our team met an interview with actress Chhaya Kadam who claimed to have posted a radio interview on YouTube, she posted a wrong message on YouTube, and among various squads, a crime on YouTube, a wild, a wild party (WIRDISS) is wild, it is wild, and the attitude of wild animals is wild. The chapters of the Biodiversity Act of 2002 should be considered a crime, and we urge you to investigate her and other legal actions involved in criminal activities of poaching meat in wildlife.”
Sunish Subramanian Kunju serves as Honorary Wildlife Warden, and leads OIPA, Amma Care Foundation and Paws-Mumbai expressed serious concerns about the incident.
“Seeing a public figure publicly acknowledged meat from protected wildlife species. On the one hand, we are working to raise awareness about wildlife conservation, and on the other hand, some are publicly violating the law. The Forest Department must investigate her obtaining this meat and take legal action against all those involved in poaching.”
