Maldives bar travelers carry Israeli passports during the Gaza war

The amendment passed through parliament on Monday and was approved by Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday, according to a statement from the presidential office.
The Maldives Immigration Bureau clarified that Israeli citizens with a second passport would be able to enter the country.
The cabinet made the decision about a year ago, but the government was not formalized until this week.
“The ratification reflects the Government’s attitude towards the ongoing atrocities committed by Israel against the Palestinian people and the ongoing genocide,” the statement said.
The Maldives is a small archipelago state in southern India and is known as a high-end tourist destination. This is primarily a Sunni Muslim country that legally prohibits preaching and practicing other beliefs.
According to the latest available immigration statistics, 59 people with Israeli passports entered the Maldives in February.
