Manyam chooses Niti Aayog’s rural agricultural transformation mission

Visakhapatnam: Niti Aayog selected the Parvatipuram Manyam district under its Regional Rural Transformation Program (DARTP) to accelerate agricultural development, announcing during the Regional Level Research and Extension Advisory Committee (ZREAC) meeting at the Zonal Level Research and Extension Advisory Committee (ZREAC) held on Saturday at Parvathipuram Itda.
The conference was organized by Rastakuntubai Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Chinthapalli Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS) to develop strategies for the 2025-26 Kharif and Rabi seasons. Collectors say a comprehensive action plan is being developed to maximize the agricultural potential of the region and benefit from farmers.
He noted that the region had a growth rate of 16.20% last year, which was largely driven by the agricultural and allied sectors, which supported 70% of the population and 51% of the local economy. The goal this year is to achieve a 16.12% growth through expanding horticulture, crop diversity and better farmer support.
Key initiatives include farm ponds, perennial crops, feed development, mobile video vans and micro-irrigation subsidies. Urge scientists to ensure timely delivery of export-quality straw seeds. The event also saw nine research publications issued by KVK and RARS.
