Josh Kroenke’s exit at Michael Malone
“We are unhappy to announce that we have brought Michael Malone’s head coaching duties immediately into effect,” Josh Kroenke, vice chairman of Croenke Sports and Entertainment, said in a statement.
However, he noted that when they evaluated it “very carefully”, the decision was not made “slightly.” Malone was asked to leave with the goal of giving the team the best chance to compete in the NBA championship.
Kroenke called the timing of the decision “unfortunate”, saying Malone helped build the foundation of the “now champion level program.”
He added: “We have not been grateful enough since he joined our franchise in 2015.”
