Moushumi Chatterjee recalls a bad experience with the song Hai Hai Yeh Majboori related to Manoj Kumar.
Actor Manoj Kumar died on Friday, shocking the film industry. Moushumi Chatterjee performed with him in 1974 at Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, and he said he was a unique and talented filmmaker who always had a strong vision for his work.
While talking to News 24, Moushumi Chatterjee shared her thoughts about Roti Kapada Aur Makaan co-star and director Manoj Kumar. She missed him and spoke with her usual honesty and simplicity. She recalled a bad experience with him and said, “Look, everyone says good things about people who die. It is true that Manoj Kumar was an excellent director with an unbeatable music sense. But I had a bad experience regarding the song Hai Hai Yeh Majboori. See, you have to be convinced you have to use your common sense, the gaana which you are asking about, the language was not go with Zeenat’s character, she was an urban sophisticated character. The language in the Teri Do takiya di naakri is about my character tulsi and in Punjabi, if neither you nor my first baby is for me, it is not my first baby, Barotji (Manoj Kumar’s assistant) thought I was not interested in this movie. So he was a little upset about Moushumi Chatterjee. He was no longer. I can’t just talk about him because truth is truth, and truth many people can’t accept it very well.”
Here are still pictures from my archives in the movie Roti Kapada Aur Makaan. With Shree Manoj Kumar. It’s really sad, I’m not going to hear him anymore. May his soul rest in peace. Pray to his family. #manojkumar pic.twitter.com/2LCP4NPW8B

Moushumi Chatterjee revealed that Manoj Kumar was upset with her at some point, which is why there was no trophy during the celebration of the Roti Kapada Aur Makaan celebration.
She added: “He told me on the celebration function of roti kapada aur makaan that Shashi Kapoor himself, everyone got a trophy and I participated in this function except me. I participated in this function and as Shahi said, I was the only one with a trophy. As a woman, wife, mother and actress, I should work hard, but my career spread to my career throughout my career. When the producer had to compromise or adjust a little, I advised me not to compromise on two songs.
Despite her dissatisfaction, Moushumi Chatterjee acknowledged Manoj Kumar was a master filmmaker and truly belonged to his craft.
“He was an excellent director, very skilled director and he did his homework m very nicely and rest he had a very good assistant(Chandra Barot), his camera sense was excellent. I remember he shot a full scene in one take. There was one word in a scene that was coming out with a heavy Bengali accent. Chandraji said we will fix it in the dubbing. But Manojji was adamant that I get it right during the shooting, no matter how time it took. That she is a perfectionist, he is that kind of director. ” she concluded.
