Nadendla Manohar seeks bankers’ support to help farmers

Vijayawada: Civil Supply Minister Nadendla Manohar called on bankers to support development plans for beneficiary farmers, as this will ensure timely distribution of rations to people.
Speaking at a review meeting with Vijayawada’s bankers on Thursday, he noted that many citizens were eagerly awaiting the monthly rations provided by the government. He hopes that the banking industry will provide support to farmers, which in turn will help the government source necessities from farmers and deliver them effectively to people.
The minister noted that as part of the reform, the government introduced a new technology-based procurement system that allows farmers to sell Paddy through WhatsApp. To date, more than 17,000 farmers have used the platform.
He noted that during the Kharif season alone, the coalition government purchased 3.8 million tons of rice fields from 600,000 farmers. He noted that payments have been attributed to farmers’ bank accounts within 24 hours, thus making people very satisfied.
Manohar stressed the state government’s opposition to the mafia within the ration distribution system. He announced the launch of new ration cards using advanced technology and the installation of AI-powered cameras in all warehouses across the state for greater transparency.
