Pakistan breached agreement to stop military operations, India promptly retaliated

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval talked with his Chinese rival Wang Yo about Pakistan’s violation of the agreement.
Srinagar was shocked by multiple explosions around 8:50 pm and lasted intermittently for at least 40 minutes on Saturday night. Similar reports come from other parts of Kashmir, including Anantnag in the south and Baramulla in the north. Electricity is closed throughout the valley.
“What happened to the ceasefire? The explosion heard in Srinagar! This is not a ceasefire. Air defense forces in central Srinagar have just opened.”
The deal aims to stop the four-day clashes triggered by the terrorist attack on 26 people on Pahargam tourists on April 22. The agreement was arrived purely by bilateral means and has no prerequisites. Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar earlier posted on X “India and Pakistan’s understanding of shutdowns and military operations today.” India has been maintaining a firm and uncompromising position against terrorism in all forms and manifestations. This will continue to do so. This emphasizes the absence of third-party mediation. “The Director-General of Pakistan Military Operations (DGMO) called the Director-General of India Military Operations at the 1535-hour IST on Saturday,” he said in a statement. “With their agreement, both sides will cease all shooting and military operations on land and in the air and sea, effective from 1700 hours of Indian Standard Time.”
Sources said India has decided that any future terrorist acts will be considered an act of war and the country will respond accordingly.
Instructions have been made to both parties to have an impact on understanding. DGMO will talk again on May 12 (1200 hours).
High-profile sources told ET that the agreement to halt military operations was purely bilaterally, contrary to claims made by U.S. President Donald Trump and other officials in the country, a call was initiated by Pakistan’s DGMO.

Saturday’s decision has no prerequisites. The Indian water treaty will remain on hold, India will continue to deny Pakistan’s entry into its airspace and ports, and postal services and trade will continue to be banned. The decision to stop visas for Pakistanis will not be rolled back. Pakistan’s diplomatic mission will not be allowed to escalate.
Trump, U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that the United States played an important role in promoting a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Trump posted on X: “After the United States mediated a long talk, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire.”
Indian officials briefed the media on Saturday about the military operations the night before. Its troops carried out precise attacks and targeted strikes at Pakistan Air Force Bases, with neighbors provoking from May 9 to 10 outside of the military targets of Murid, Chaklala and Rahim Yar Khan, Chunian, Pasrur and Sialkot Aviation Bases. The military said it caused significant damage to Pakistan’s military assets.
At that time, it was observed that the Pakistani military moved its troops to the advancing areas, indicating an offensive intention to further escalate the situation. The Indian armed forces are still in high state of operational readiness. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said in a joint briefing between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense that the Pakistani military continued to provoke on Friday night, taking positive action, using multiple threat vectors along the western border. Pakistan has hired drones, drones, long-range weapons, wandering ammunition and fighters to target civilian areas and military infrastructure. Singh said it also resorted to air invasion with the help of drones and fired heavy-caliber weapons along the control line.
“Along the international borders and control lines, air invasions and several harassment attacks were also attempted from Srinagar at over 26 locations,” she said. “The Indian armed forces successfully neutralized these threats and most vectors. However, equipment and personnel at the Indian Air Force stations in Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur and Bhuj were subject to limited damage. Several high-speed missile attacks at night, and several high-speed missile attacks attracted attention in several air bases in Punjab after a few hours at night.”
In a rapid and calibrated response, the Indian armed forces carried out precise attacks on identified military targets. These include technical infrastructure, command and control centers, radar sites and weapons storage areas. Pakistan’s military targets are engaged with precision weapons using air ammunition from fighters. She said the radar sites at Pasruer and Silcot Aviation Bases are also targeted at precision ammunition.
In conducting these responses, India ensured minimal collateral damage. Pakistan, on the other hand, targeted civilian infrastructure, attacked medical centers and schools in aviation bases in Srinagar, Avatipola and Udhampl. India refuted Pakistan’s claim about the damage it caused.
