Even the leaders of the Lingayat-Panchamasali community disagree on the public support of Panchamasali Seer Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami.
Therefore, two meetings of warring factions within the community were cancelled.
While the Akhila Bharat Lingayat Panchamasali Samaj Trust, now headed by former legislator Vijayanand Kashappanavar, had planned to hold meeting of Panchamasali legislators and leaders from of all political parties and elders of the community at Kudalasangama on Saturday, Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami had given a call to his devotees to assemble in Kudalasngama.
Speaking to Presppersons of Davangere, former MLA HS Shivashankar said they had asked Vijayanand Kashappanavar and Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami not to continue their meeting plans for the overall interests of the community. He also said that Mr. Kashappanavar’s remarks on the statements of the prophets and various leaders, which he said ultimately led to confusion among the members of the community.
On Thursday, Mr. Kashappanavar was appointed as the new chairman of the “Akhila Bharat Lingayat Panchamasali Samaj Trust”.
Trust members and senior community leaders met in Hubballi on Thursday to accept the resignation of current chairman Prabhanna Hunasikatti and unanimously elected Mr. Kashappanavar as chairman.
Mr. Kashappanavar publicly criticized Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami’s position on the 2D reservation and moved away from the subsequent reservation with the Panchamasali movement. The decision of the trust fund members to choose him was seen as an attempt to send a clear signal to the Prophet, who has been defending his Yatnal deportation. Meanwhile, Mr. Yatnal also filed charges against businesses in the trust office.
These developments naturally don’t get along well with members of the demographically powerful Lingayat Panchamasali community, which currently has two religious hosts (Mutt) in Kudalasangama and another in Harihar.
Although the prophets of Harihar Peetha Vachanananda Swami remained all about the problem, some community leaders who remained neutral on this issue have begun to work on the problem and it seems to have been solved.
On Friday, Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami confirmed that Sunday’s meeting had been cancelled considering the appeals of community elders, including several legislators.
He said the decision was to maintain Panchamasali Unity’s work, and in the next few days, meetings will be held in Bellagarve or some other towns to find a permanent solution and demonstrate the unity of the community.
