Parkinson’s tremors can now be treated in just a few hours!

Hyderabad: Uncontrollable hand and leg shaking, and loss of motion control – Parkinson’s disease is a debilitating disease that affects a person both physically and emotionally. Until about a year ago, the only treatment available was a surgical procedure called deep brain stimulation (DBS). However, due to advances in medicine, there is now a revolutionary new non-surgical treatment – MR-guided centralized ultrasound (MRGFUS).

The doctors at King’s Hospital report that the technology can completely eliminate tremors in just three to four hours. The hospital’s dyskinesia team, including Dr. Manas, Dr. Jayasree and Dr. Gopal, recently organized an awareness program to educate patients and their families about Parkinson’s disease, its symptoms and new treatment options. About 150 people participated in the question.

“Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disease that not only causes physical problems but also causes severe emotional distress. So far, the patient has been monitored with a significant reduction or total elimination of tremors, all of which have been monitored within hours.

This advanced treatment – Mrgfus – is accessible to everyone. In an amazing situation, a 28-year-old man (unmarried and eager to become a teacher) struggles due to his condition and cannot find a job. After this treatment, he is now working happily as a teacher and helping many others. We want to provide this quality of life for everyone. Kim Jong Il’s neurology team is providing excellent care and I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to their excellent service. ” said Dr. B. Bhaskar Rao, CMD, Kims Hospital.

Dr. M. Jayasree, Consultant Neurologist and Movement Disorder Specialist, who served as the program coordinate, added, “MRgFUS is a state-of-the-art treatment. We’ve already treated eight patients at KIMS with excellent outcomes. There is no need for any cuts — ultrasound waves are delivered via MRI guidance to the exact region of the brain causing the tremors. First, we perform a temporary low-heat ablation to assess the response, and once confirmed that higher permanent ablation was performed, and most patients with Parkinson’s disease were affected, so we focused it on that aspect to maximize the outcome.”

Other spokespersons at the event include Dr. S. Mohan Das (Chief Consultant Neurologist), Dr. Seetha Jayalakshmi, Dr. Ea Varalakshmi, Dr. Praveen Kumar Yada, Dr. Subhash Kaul, Dr. Sambit Sahu (Health Director) and Dr. Gopalakrishna. They explained that Parkinson’s disease has both motor symptoms and motor symptoms.

Motor symptoms include tremor, rigidity, slowing movement and difficulty walking. Patients may encounter basic tasks with reduced facial expressions.

Non-motor symptoms include sleep disorders, urine problems, constipation, depression, odor loss and balance problems, resulting in frequent declines. These problems often socially and emotionally isolate patients, preventing them from attending social gatherings or family events. This breakthrough treatment offers new hope for patients with Parkinson’s disease without invasive surgery, seeking a better quality of life.
