Punjab King’s boss Zinta reacts after fake Rishabu pants quote sparks debate

Recently, Preity Zinta, the owner of the Punjab Kings, attributed to Preity Zinta who has been touring. She is said to be a big name, but he has been lacking in performance.

The Punjab Kings made an incredible start in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), led by Shreyas Iyer. Before the IPL 2025 auction, Punjab stared at Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, but due to this, they could only bid for Iyer. Interestingly, Pant seems relieved, and the Punjab franchise is also happy to join the Lucknow Super Giants for a record fee of INR 2.7 billion after being released by the Delhi capital. Compared to LSG, Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta was all the rage on social media as PBK has a stronger season than LSG, although it was later discovered to be fake.

In this so-called offer, Zinta seems to compare Iyer and Pant, labeling Pant as “big brand” and Iyer labels it as “big performer.” But the Bollywood star went to social media to clarify that the statement is indeed a fabrication.

“We have both Rishabh Pant and Shryas Iyer – choices we could have taken on the team. But we wanted someone who performed well, not a big name… so we brought Shryas Iyer to the team,” Quote read.

She said: “I’m sorry, but this is fake news!”

Despite being the most expensive player in IPL history, Pant is still working to establish himself as the consistent hitter this season. He only won 103 runs in seven games at LSG, including half a century. Iyer, on the other hand, scored 257 runs in the Punjab Kings and caught fire. So far, he has helped PBK win five of seven games and he has reached a 50-shot milestone.

Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings defeated Royal Challenger Bengaluru on Friday night at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, a thrilling rain that damaged second place in the rain and finished second in the standings. On Sunday afternoon, both teams will play at Mullanpur again at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh.

Despite the RCB’s outstanding performance, winning all four away games, PBK has won only two games in Mullanpur’s three IPL 2025 games so far.
