Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said he was ready to hold a public meeting at a public meeting if the latter cleared the 42% backward class quota (BCS) proposed by the Congress government in Telangana, which was proposed in Telangana by conducting a constitutional amendment in the Barran Islands.
“If the Telangana government has been resolved unanimously by all parties through the legislative parliament, the Centre or Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi should have any problems,” he said on Wednesday.
Mr Revanth Reddy sought support from the centre for hiking quotas at a protest meeting held in Jantar-Mantar, Delhi, urging Mr Modi to listen to the participants. “If we want to increase the quota to benefit the weaker portion of the children in order to get better education and work after receiving a comprehensive caste census, why object to it?
The Chief Minister asked Mr. Modi to resign without endorsing the hike in the quota and said BC would gain justice after raising the flag at Red Fort. He added: “The Prime Minister should not consider the provisions but be aware of what happened to the former Nizam and Telangana landlords.”
Mr Reddy explained that the Congressional government had accepted the caste census to fulfill the promise made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” within 100 days of his administration. On the other hand, the BJP does not conduct caste enumerations in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, or any state in which the party is governing.
In fact, the BJP ideologically opposed the reservation of British Columbia and accomplices in launching the “Kamandal Yatra” to oppose the Mandal committee recommendations attempted by the then vice president Singh administration. The Chief Minister also accused the BJP of refusing to conduct the planned census in 2021 because “it also has to enumerate castes and therefore opposes the development of the BCS.”
TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud said BJP and BRS leaders were shedding alligator tears for BC welfare and questioned their commitment to refuse to attend the meeting. He said the Congressional government has a “historic” caste census of the Chief Minister of the Upper Caste (Reddy) become a guiding light for the rest of the country and urged Mr. Modi to support the quota bill. He urged B.C. organizations to support the government in this effort, adding that Congress alone cares about the welfare of the weaker parts. British Columbia Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Forestry and Environment Minister Konda Surekha also attended the meeting.
