According to a report released by the Association for Democratic Reform (ADR), BJP’s Parag Shah is India’s richest MLA with assets worth nearly 34 billion rupees. The 55-year-old represents Ghatkopar East of Mumbai. He was elected from the seat twice in 2019 and 2024. Now, the ADR report named him the richest MLA. The report is based on an analysis of the voluntary affidavit submitted by the MLA before participating in their latest elections. The study covers 4,092 MLAs in 28 state legislatures and three joint territories. It does not exclude the affidavit unreadable 24 MLAs and 7 vacant assembled seats.
Who is Parag Shah?
Parag Shah is the two-term MLA representing the eastern constituency of Ghatkopar, Mumbai. He is the leader of the BJP. Parag is Gujarati Jain with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After completing his studies, he joined his family’s construction business in 1991. He later became a successful real estate developer. In 2002, he founded Man Infraconstruction Ltd, listed in 2010. He has about 25 years of extensive experience in the construction industry. He was first elected as BJP City Councilman from Ghatkopar East in February 2017.
