Shashi Tharoor’s solo moves sparked Congress’ anger as it clashes with the entire party delegation

Trigger: The government named senior MP Shashi Tharoor as the leader of one of the delegations – the party’s brass seems to be eager to weaken. Shortly after Tharoor’s name was officially announced, Congress released four of its own nominees – Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain and Raja Brar – pointing out Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Manish Tewari, Salman Khurshid and Amar Singh, who had heard the government.
Before Congress made publicity to the return home, Tharoor publicly accepted an invitation from the government rather than the right of the centre or individual MPs to decide on their representation, catching his party off guard.
“The Indian government invites to bring a full party delegation to five key capitals to express our country’s views on recent events. My services require my services when it comes to national interests and I will not want to. Tharoor posted on X.
This swift move rekindled uneasiness within Congress about Tarole’s growing independence position, and the party circle debates whether to continue to reject his critics within the AICC push him to the edge.
Congressional Communications Director Jairam Ramesh responded sharply, accusing the government of declaring Tarol’s name without the party’s consent to declare “disheartened”. “You can’t include MPs in your delegation without consulting the party. We all belong to the party and the government must consult the leaders of the opposition,” Ramesh said. He also opened a veil barb to Tharoor, likening Congress to the Ganga: “The Congress is like a powerful Ganges, with many tributaries there. Some are dry, some are polluted.”
