Nitanshi Goe and Laapataa have won everyone’s hearts, which was released in March 2024. Directed by Kiran Rao, the film also features Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam. The film is based on Biplab Goswami’s award-winning story with a focus on empowering women.

Meanwhile, the producer of Laapataa has been recently accused of replicating the film from the 2019 Arabic short film Burqa City. A social media user shared videos comparing the two movies, which quickly became popular.

When Ms. Laapataa’s writer denied the claim, Fabrice Bracq, director of Burqa City, said he was shocked after watching the edit. Fabrice Bracq said he was shocked after watching Ms. Laapataa. He felt that even though the film was made for Indian audiences, some parts reminded him of his own short film, Berka. He didn’t expect to see so many familiar things.

He said: “Especially – this is by no means an exhaustive list – the kind, loving, innocent husband who lost his wife is in sharp contrast with another violent and mean husband. The police scene is also shocking: a corrupt, violent, violent and intimidating policeman is surrounded by two sides, of course two sides.

The director also mentioned a specific scene of Ms. Laapataa where the husband searches for his wife in different stores. He pointed out the part where the man showed the shop owner the photo of his wife (wearing a veil). Then, the owner’s own burqa package wife came out. He felt that this moment was very close to a scene in Berka, which seemed to be a clear reference to his film.

He also mentioned that the twist at the end of Ms. Laapataa felt very familiar. In the movie, the woman is revealed to deliberately escape from abusing her husband. He said this is also an important part of the story of Berka.
