Congressman Rakesh Rathore left Setapur Prison on Wednesday morning (March 19, 2025), the day after a local court granted him bail in a rape case.
Mr. Rasol was arrested on January 30 and has been sentenced to jail since then.
“We were first given bail and thanked the system. Congressman’s brother Anil Rathore told reporters outside the prison, “

Judge Lucknow of the Allahabad High Court released bail to Mr Rathore on 11 March in a case under section 64 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
However, on the same day, Sitapur police filed a fee form (sexual intercourse) of BNS, which was subject to the maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, preventing Ms. Rathore from being released immediately and forcing him to apply for bail again in the lower court.
On Tuesday (18 March 2025), Chief Judicial Magistrate Gaurav Prakash granted him bail in Article 69. His lawyer, Vijay Kumar Singh, said two bails were provided on behalf of the MPs at Rs 10,000.
According to police and prosecution, Mr. Rasol allegedly raped a 45-year-old woman under the pretext of getting married and after pledging to help her political career.
The MP was detained from his residence on January 30, when he clarified his position on the allegations at a press conference.
