According to industry representatives here, Korean companies’ interest in Coimbatore has shown interest in strengthening their business areas and investments.
The head of the industry association of Coimbatore recently held a meeting with representatives from the Korean Consul and the Korea Trade Promotion Organization. The South Korean delegation participated in the Agricultural Expo organized by the Coimbatore Small Industry Association last year.
“We have heard that many Korean companies have invested in and around Chennai, and there are even some restaurants serving Korean food. Especially Korean car suppliers, who have opened shops in the state. Maybe there are some Korean companies looking for opportunities in Coimbatore, too,” said M. Karthikeyan, coimimbatikeyan, coimimbatikeyan.
An official source told Hindu One of the Korean companies recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Coimbatore. The official said there are opportunities for joint ventures in multiple fields.
Mr Karthikeyan said that at the recent meeting in Coimbatore, Coimbatore’s strengths and opportunities were highlighted. He said that despite discussions with Coimbatore’s investment during the Agricultural Expo last year, there has been no obvious progress since then.
