The year-end academic exam is over. The schoolchildren threw heavy backpacks in a corner, and the hard test period seemed to be an increasingly recovering memory. The “No care in the world” season is a precious experience for generations and has arrived.
With it comes the summer camp, a long-lasting ritual to entertain, play, make new friends, and get involved in art and music.

Hundreds of parents and children flooded Jawahar Balabhavan of Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday to participate in various programs, including introductory courses in arts and culture. Balabhavan is organizing a summer camp that offers 24 introductory courses including painting, film dance, martial arts, clay modeling and aviation models at affordable working class families. The government has provided special discounts for the expenses for households below the poverty line or BPL.
Balabhavan’s executive Rajan Ok Rajan said he expects an increase in enrollment this year. Registration has risen from 1,000 last year to 1,200 this year. He said the courses are designed for courses of different ages and students can choose courses with innate talents.

However, Mr. Rayan said the lack of space and ally infrastructure was a serious limiting factor. Balabhavan requires more areas for extracurricular activities and modern architecture. “At present, we are forced to compromise to meet the demands of children and parents,” he said.
Balabawan and other institutions offer relatively low fees to provide summer courses with the economic divide and social stratification of private schools.
Unsupervised time may not always be great for impressed young people, parents say. In addition, the surge in juvenile crime and drug abuse is also a concern of parents and society. Summer camps provide parents with reassuring panacea, at least to some extent.
The Child Welfare Commission (CWC) has opened a children’s summer camp within the scope of Thycaud, a sprawling primary school under the government model. The camp offers performances, paintings, percussion instruments, film editing, robotics, interactions with famous figures in various fields, language training and introductions to world literature.
The State Central Library also hosts children’s summer camps, focusing on folk art and drama workshops. The Ministry of Culture’s Guru Gopinath Natana Gramam provides training for children’s film appreciation courses and yoga training.
Government model high school Thycaud provides cricket, hockey, soccer and basketball coaches for athletic children and enjoys sports.
