tirupati: Nellore drew aroused the enthusiasm of spiritualism on Sunday, when thousands of devotees gathered in Ranganayakulapet to witness the great Rathotsavam of Sri Talpagiri Ranganatha Swamy.
The famous temple authorities took out Utsava Murthis of Sri Ranganatha Swamy and his wife and sridevi and bhudevi of Sri Ranganatha Swamy to sridevi and bhudevi with wonders of faith and tradition, on the chariots on the street. Devotees from all over the region flocked to provide halati, breaking coconuts and performing rituals such as sprinkling salt and pepper on chariots.
The temple government has made careful arrangements with local police to ensure the smooth progress of the celebration.
Located on the bank of the Penna River, Sri Talpagiri Ranganatha Swamy Temple is a symbol of dedication that has lasted for centuries. When Simhapuri Raja Mahendra Varma ruled in the 12th century, its origin was in the era of Pallava. The temple’s unique architectural features (its open to the West) attract devotees. This design allows the sunlight reflected from the river to illuminate the god Vakshasthala, thus increasing the sacredness of the shrine.
A special tradition associated with Rathotsavam is the symbolic participation of Lord Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha at the ceremony. The temple authorities representative Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy showed silk robes to the Utsava deity of Talpagiri. During the Edurukolu festival, Ranganatha Swamy Temple reciprocates in a similar way.
